The new program for helping people individually at the computer room on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 12-1 is working out very well. We spent two hours with individual instruction this Friday and will continue the program next week. Thewirelessweb is working slowly off the large antenna and most people are not getting the service. Call to get your money refunded or service extended until next year if it does not work out this year. The number to call for "thewirelessweb" is (210) 491-9440 . Some members, with cell phones only, are getting the wireless cards for service to the Internet from their cell phone companies. Verizon works very well in most areas.
If your computer needs repair then you can get a diagnostic work for ten dollars and labor for repair at twenty five dollars an hour from Chris Mayes. His telephone number is (956) 655-5393. His email is chris@chrissuport.net. Chris was at the craft show and will be there tomorrow. You can drop by and meet him tomorrow in the main hall.
We have two items for sale in the storage cabinet. One is a printer and scanner, and the other is a printer. Let us know if you are interested in either one.
We will have our computer club luncheon on January 18th at Chosita's Restaurant on 1011 W. Veteran's Hwy.Palmview. The directions: Go out Bentsen Palm drive across business Hwy 83 and continue under Hwy 83 freeway to the first light at W. Veteran's Hwy turning left. You will go down towards Palmview HEB about four blocks and looking right you will see the flags and advertising of the restaurant. Turn in the circular drive and enter the parking area. We will have a room reserved in the restaurant for all of the BGRCC members and friends.
Monday was the beginning of new lessons for beginners by Gary Bernier. I received excellent feedback on how well the presentation helped people better understand their computers. Gary is an excellent and well prepared teacher and the following weeks lessons should better prepare us all on our computers.
Gary filled in for Doug Peace on the use of spread sheets for the General session. Word processing is the topic for the General Session and Doug Peace will show you the verizon wireless card and explain how it works to those of you interested in going wireless.
