BGRCC Bulletin for Feb 22, 2010

At the next BGR Computer Club the first session at 9:00 will be a continuation of the basic operation of the computer by Gary. The general session at 10:30 will be a presentation by Jim Antley on "Facebook" and a few words about "Twitter". There have been several people that have asked for additional information on these subjects. This should answer a lot of questions and be very interesting for those of us who have a very limited knowledge of it.

Beginners begin setting up at 8:30 and the lesson begins at 9:00. The general session begins at 10:30 and is over at 11:40. We break for lunch and begin the Tutorials at 12-1 on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

There have been several people in the park that have used the services of Chris Mayes 956-655-5393 and have reported that they have been very satisfied with his work and also his prices. I understand that he goes to school in San Antonio during the week and then works on computers one the weekends. His does do house calls so that is a benefit. Keep us informed on the results that you have with him when he does work for you.

Another source of help is Tim Watkins 956-585-6203. My understanding is that he has a shop where you need to take your computer. I have not talked to anyone that has had work done by him, but the third hand information is that he also is good.

I talked to Ron Ayers today and he says that the Wireless Web Internet is working better than it has in a long time. He is getting a few more parts that should improve the service in some areas of the park. Check your connections and bring a report to the computer club meeting. Maybe we have finally gotten over the hump.

The BGRCC Digital Camera Special Interest Group will meet this Sunday, Feb 21 at 3:00 till 5:00 in the West Hall 3R. This session will cover "Intro to Digital Camera and Intro to Digital Images." Bring your digital camera to the session and be prepared to ask questions. Jim Antley will be leading the session. Future sessions will be "Learning to us a digital editing program." There will be two different groups, one on Picasa and one on Photoshop Elements.
